Facilities
The Music Department has a fully equipped songwriting suite with 26 PC Music systems with Cubase and Sibelius 4 software, a recording studio and two integrated practise rooms. There is a main teaching room which also has two integrated practise rooms. The main teaching room is equipped with keyboards for an entire class. There are six further practise rooms, which are used for both instrumental lessons and rehearsals.KS 3 Introduction
Students learn about a variety of musical genres and styles throughout Key Stage 3. These include Western Classical Music, Popular Music and World Music Styles. Students use a variety of instruments in class, including keyboards, voice, music technology midi instruments and percussion instruments. These skills get “celebrated” in the cross curricular project in year 9, which results in a public performance.
KS4 Introduction
The Music Department uses the Edexcel Exam board. At Key Stage 4 students get a chance to hone in the Music skills learnt through Key Stage 3. They record 2 performances, compose 2 pieces of music based on an exam topic, and sit a terminal listening exam.
