KS 3 Introduction

Students learn about a variety of musical genres and styles throughout Key Stage 3. These include Western Classical Music, Popular Music and World Music Styles.  Students use a variety of instruments in class, including keyboards, voice, music technology midi instruments and percussion instruments.  These skills get “celebrated” in the cross curricular project in year 9, which results in a public performance.

KS4 Introduction

The Music Department uses the Edexcel Exam board. At Key Stage 4 students get a chance to hone in the Music skills learnt through Key Stage 3. They record 2 performances, compose 2 pieces of music based on an exam topic, and sit a terminal listening exam.
